Today your teachers were back with the bug spray and sunhats. "Make sure you hydrate today," Anakin said. "It's humid where you're heading."

"And crowded," Ahsoka added, which was the excuse for just how neon the sunhats were. "So make sure you don't get lost."

"Welcome to Thailand," Anakin said with a smile.

"More specifically Bangkok," Ahsoka said. "The capital and by far the largest city."

"You'll get to experience a lot of different things," Anakin said. "One of them should not be getting run over. Please look in all of the directions before stepping out anywhere."

"We'd prefer not to try to explain how we returned with less students than we started with."

"And there's paperwork," Anakin agreed, nodding.

And no one to push it off on, so please don't make them do any.

The plants needed a check-up. That was the only reason Pam was here, really.

Well. That, and a moment outside of Gotham. There'd been stories about some monster crashing around Marshview, somehere - she hadn't been able to find it yet. But rumors did not come from nowhere, and humans did often see the shadows of things they didn't understand - even if they didn't know what cast those shadows.

So it was a pensive Pam who opened up Pick Your Poison that morning, going through each shelving unit to check on the plants next to the products.

Robby has managed to put in a temporary fix for the site errors and things failing to refresh or not showing up where they should! The permanent fix is going to need Mark's experience, and unfortunately -- seriously, this literally never fails -- Mark has been on an international flight all day, because of course he has. (Never. Fails. He and I are not allowed to both take vacation at once.)

The site will work just fine with the temporary fix in place, things just might be a little slow here and there. We'll keep you updated.

Gregorith was somewhat lost in thought this morning. He'd gone home for a few days, and while there he'd inspected the warehouse they'd set up on Level 9 for a certain billionaire, and he'd gotten lost. The warehouse was massive, and the rows upon rows of storage shelves all looked alike.

And then Sharkie had told him about the internet memes and creepy pastas about that, so now, while he was also keeping an eye out for museum patrons, he was scrolling through photos of liminal spaces.

There was a slab of pizza stuck to the ceiling. Dante could see it from here. ‘Here’ being the sofa, or the bathroom, take your pick. A sofa he was laying on in the bathroom.

“Huh,” he said. “Wonder how that got there.”

He looked at it for a while.

Maybe it was a sign that the sofa finally needed to go back into the living room. The windows were fixed now, and it’d be nice to be able to watch TV from somewhere that wasn’t the floor. Yeah. It was definitely time.

He sat up five minutes later, when the door opened. He scooted along the length of the sofa until he’d cleared the bathroom doorway and squinted. What was it now? Trish? Lady? Kat? Demons? Probably demons.

“Sorry, the door was unlocked! I’m just here for my jacket!”

Oh. No, it was that dude. What was his name? Pat something? Patrick? Dante squinted at him through the hallway. No, fuck, what was he thinking? He refused to be that guy. Paul. It was Paul.

“I think it ended up on the lamp in the kitchen!” he yelled. Which would be a pain in the ass, because that guy was pretty short, and he’d probably need someone to pry it off the lamp for him--

“No, it’s in the sink!” Paul yelled.

“Oh, thank fuck,” Dante muttered, dropping the outstretched arm that he'd been about to pull himself off the couch with. He laid back down. Heard some rustling around, the clink of the faucet. A yelled ‘bye’, and the door shutting.

Good. Maybe the sofa could wait a while longer, too.

And then, abruptly, it was dark. Shit. The electricity bill. “Shit fuck shitting hell—” Hadn’t he paid that? He thought he’d paid that. He fumbled for his phone, and-- oh, for fuck’s sake.

Five minutes later, he was up, dressed, and sticking his head out the back door to squint at the overgrown brickwork in the yard. “Trish, you still stalking me?! I could use a phone charge!”

Let's see...at the school, Let's Play Tourists visited Paris, Arts & Crafts & Dungeons & Dragons talked about the figurines they painted last week, and Paintball allowed the combatants the use of their supernatural powers. Congratulations to Dean Skywalker, who was the week's victor!

And speaking of Dean Skywalker, in the town, he joined Miss Skywalker in cleaning up at her warehouse. The lack of cleaning staff remains the most disappointing thing about this century. Ah, well. Until next week, dear listeners!

"First of all, I would like to apologize for last week." He grimaced and rubbed the back of his neck. "I...well, um. Never mind. Anyway, I apologize. This week we're starting in Paris." He handed them each a ticket for a tour. "It'll be a few hours, but...well, we've got portals, so. And you can choose to spend a little longer if you like."

He led them through the portal and over to where their "fun" guide was supposed to meet them. Jon was rather dreading whatever a "fun" guide was, but hopefully it wouldn't be too dreadful.

Though she was giving death glares at the woodchucks anytime she heard a noise. One day. Give her one clean day, guys.

"Welcome back, we're glad to see you all again," Jane said.

"Yes. We are." Cara could possibly sound more convincing. "So it's time to have our first check in on how your work is going."

"We want you to introduce the little mini that you painted!" Oh yeah. That'd be something. enjoy coming up with backstory on the fly.

"We will be?" Steve repeated, blinking.

It was definitely an idea, wasn't it? "Just for today," Tony said quickly.

"Please remember that this is only a game and maiming your fellow players or breaking the island is completely unacceptable," Steve said to the class.

"I thought that was a given," Tony said like the class wasn't full of super competitive people.

Steve's sweeping hand to encompass the class paused slightly in front of Anakin. "Just in case."

Good morning, everyone, it's Steve Rogers with the news of yesterday.

In classes, Constantine led his class through the part denial plays in the grieving process, Liliana discussed the Elder Dragon War

In town, Steven stopped learning about frogs long enough to have lunch with Watts, and Octavia came in for Duke's diner shift for lunch and rehashing Constantine's class. Jesse went over to Bucky's place, and the conversation didn't go the way most that begin with "we should talk" generally do, so...good job there, Buck. Finally, Steph was definitely not playing Angry Birds.

That feels suspiciously specific, but I'm not going to ask. Have a great weekend!

It's been a while since we've done a full code push rather than just hotfixes for bugs, so we are well overdue! Depending on availability, we're aiming to do one sometime soon; we'll let you know specifics once we've worked out good timing for everyone who needs to be available.

However! The reason it's been so long is we kept trying to get some of the stuff that's pending to "really finished" instead of just "mostly finished", and then we once again looked around and went "oh no, this is a really big code push with a lot of changes". Those make us nervous, because while we do a lot of testing ourselves, y'all are really creative in how you use the site and we inevitably find a bunch of edge cases when we let you loose on new code with your real-world data!

So, if folks have some spare time in the next few days, it would be a huge help if you could spend half an hour or so using the site the same way you normally do but with the "Site-Wide Canary" beta features flag turned on. Canary mode is a sort of "live testing" mode: it's your real data, but running the most up-to-date code.

Canary mode always does have a few glitches -- there may be missing text strings or errors about missing database properties, which is a limitation of how we run it. We don't need to know about those, but anything else weird that you run into, leave a comment with what you were trying to do and the error message you got.

I'll repeat that the "here be dragons" caution that's on the beta features page: some things may be broken, so don't use it for when you're doing something important. But a few more eyeballs on it before the push will help the push go more smoothly for everyone.

For folks who want to concentrate on what's changing, we haven't finished the second code tour of what's going to be in this push, but the ffirst one has a good chunk of what's going to be going live. (We'll get the second half done ASAP!)

"So, the Elder Dragon War," Liliana said, picking up from last week's lecture as if it had been seven minutes since she last discussed it, not seven days. "In the millennia or so after Nicol Bolas - then, only Nicol, he had not granted himself a second name - had taken over the kingdom of the man that had slain his sister, Merrevia Sal, the rest of the Elder dragons had spread out over Dominaria. There were hundreds of them, perhaps more, and by this time, many of them had taken mates and started breeding children of their own. Dragons eat a great deal, do not share easily or well, especially with one another, and are incredibly aware of their own status and standing in their internal hierarchy."

Not unlike Planeswalkers in that way... )

"Nicol Bolas is the only surviving Elder dragon of Dominaria now. He brags that he killed his brother Ugin in an extended battle on a different plane. In 2824 AR, Arcades Sabboth was summoned by a Planeswalker, Leshrac, to serve as his champion in a duel against another Planeswalker, Kristina of the Wood. Some of you may remember her name as one of the Nine Titans who accompanied Urza to Phyrexia. She was one of the two people killed by Tevash Szat." You know, the pretext Urza needed to kill Szat and power the soul bombs, right before he decided to become friends with Yawgmoth instead. "Tevash Szat also killed Chromium Rhuell, the shapeshifting dragon who stayed out of the Elder Dragon War completely, in 2934 AR, as part of a plot for Szat and Leshrac to escape the Shard of the Twelve Worlds." Which, if you remembered, was also Urza's fault. "Rhuell's death was the spark to the kindling that eventually ignited the Planeswalker War, which is definitely going to have to wait for another day - and possibly several drinks - as that was an absolute nightmare of ridiculousness."

It was possible that Planeswalkers didn't deserve nice things.

Right. So the worst of their fight had been cleared up. Jesse-- well, maybe it would've been better to let her and James coast on the current ceasefire for a while. Find their equilibrium again.

Except she kept coming back to concerns about what could happen in the meanwhile. What if the island found a way to tell James about the Bureau? He wouldn't have all the context. And-- well, it was entirely possible he'd break up with her over this anyway. But if he didn't have all--

Eugh.

She had spent days rehearsing the speech in her head. And yet, as she arrived at James's doorstep early that Thursday, she couldn't help but hope he'd gone back to Wakanda early.

Please?

She raised her hand and knocked.

The museum often got catalogues in the mail of things companies hoped for them to purchase. Sometimes the answer was yes - office supplies were always in need, for example. Others were more curiosity.

Such as the one Steven was flipping through today. It was about habitats for frogs and toads.

Steven had nothing against the idea personally. The museum already had fish and insects. Frogs weren't that far off.

But frogs did have a particular diet they were known for. And while Blathers might be thrilled to no longer have any insects around, that would render one of the wings of the museum completely useless.

Still, it made for an interesting read all the same. Some of the frogs were rather pretty looking, if one liked that sort of thing.

As always, Steven was interruptible for visitors, whether or not they were frogs.

"Denial ain't a river in Egypt, kids," John drawled after everyone had arrived. "--but it's something that Fandom residents tend to excel at."

"Now, denial is different than not understanding, while that can be part of it. But generally speaking, it is when is a loss doesn't feel real yet. You know that the loss happened but it doesn't feel like it, or you feel like you can still somehow change the situation." Yes, that came out slightly sarcastic.

"Grief can be a messy process and everyone reacts to it differently. People struggle to consciously or unconsciously acknowledge the loss."

"The denial stage of grief is characterized by the following experiences: Feeling shocked or emotionally numb, being confused and disoriented, shutting down and being unable to process emotions, forgetting about the loss or disbelief that the loss occurred, avoiding reminders of the loss, sleeping more than usual, procrastinating in dealing with the loss and its consequences, staying busy all the time to avoid thinking about the loss or engaging in mindless behaviors and being easily distracted, focusing on the needs of others instead of our own needs, thinking or saying, 'I’m fine,' or 'Everything’s fine,'" Was that a pointed look at the class?

Yes. Yes it was.

"And, of course, using substances like alcohol or drugs to avoid facing reality. My personal fucking favorite method of coping!"

"Of course, grief is a fucking bitch, and even when you think you're over it, it'll come swinging at you out of left-field. You might get the urge to contact the person who's gone - whether dead or just out of your life - before you realize they're gone, and then BAM! You're caught in the cycle again. You might think of a joke the person would enjoy, then realize you won't get to share it with them. Or you'll have the feeling that the person was just with us, or that they never left."

Duke had come home smelling like gravy, which was now Octavia's cue to try and remember to steer away from the park on Wednesdays, again.

The club, meanwhile, had a vaguely citrus-y scent about it. For some reason. And not like an artificial citrus-y smell, a proper one, like a fruit freshly cut in half.

Octavia was probably going to spend half her shift trying to locate where it was coming from. She had a concern there was some kind of cache of halved fruits somewhere, after all, and those weren't going to stay fresh forever.

It might be obvious how much Rey didn't know she was helping by the wary look on her face even as she arranged the chairs.

"A little warning might be nice," she muttered, like she didn't know better.

"Where's the fun in that?" Anakin replied with a smile. "But musical chairs by itself is dull, and we've done team-building versions too often. So this time you will be seated in one place and pass a balloon around and around."

"How is it terrible?" Rey asked. "It's always terrible."

She defended you, Anakin. Always remember she defended you.

"When the music stops, the person holding the balloon has to pop it," Anakin said. "The balloon isn't empty."

"I hate the ones where I have to do laundry," Rey sighed, with the face of someone who would not be doing any defending today. "What are they filled with?"

While there were serious reasons for the holiday that should definitely be remembered today, it was also the unofficial start of summer. And when you had a beach-themed class on the unofficial start of summer, naturally you had to throw a beach party and extend the invitation to everyone and call it work.

Fliers had been posted around town, and Kitty had the beach all set up. The umbrellas and tents from last week were back up if people wanted shade, and there were beach towels available, though there was a limited number of those so hopefully some people brought their own. There were coolers full of sodas, water, and lemonade, because it was for class, but also someone (Tino) had set out one full of beers and hard seltzers, because it was a party. There was also a table full of moddable snacks and salads, and there was a grill out, because while class hadn't gotten to that yet in their second week, this was what you did and people were more than welcome to relieve Kitty of grill duty.

So come one, come all, we're ignoring the actual weather forecast and the weather just so happens to be perfect on this here beach!

Now that all was forgiven--or at least aggressively forgotten about--Steve was back on the invitation list for commemorative wreath laying. As one of the few mobile WWII veterans, Steve's inbox had been filled with options, but he always chose Arlington for the chance to stop in for a few moments with the Howling Commandos, buried in their own section, before the pomp and circumstance by the Tomb of the Unknowns began.

Dressed in his blues, laden down with ribbons, it was hard for Steve to be inconspicuous, but most of the people in the cemetery were visiting their own friends and relatives, and so if they did recognize him, it was only with the slightest smile of recognition. He was left to his own memories.

Following the wreath laying was a moment of awkwardness with Secretary Ross and another of blinding insincerity from the current President. Steve had a chance to do what he actually loved--interacting with the other veterans--and then could finally pull himself away from the crowd.

Phone in hand as he made his way through the parking lot towards his SHIELD-provided ride, he texted Tony (carefully labeled as Husband!Tony in his contacts): find someplace to eat yet?

It was always a little tricky to keep two Tonys in the same universe from getting photographed and then setting off the conspiracy theorists, so Steve's Tony had to stay inconspicuous. Well, as inconspicuous as a Tony Stark was capable of being...

Good morning, everyone! I'm thrilled to report I've finally more than one note to report on!

Yes, school is back in session, and Arts & Crafts & Dungeons & Dragons held their first meeting of the term, where they did the customary introductions and some painting. I've still nothing from the dormitory, but in the town, there was a porg--not our intern, I must stress--in the Trooper Station, and Detective Watts was joined by Mr. Grant for luncheon. Miss Skywalker, Mr. Blackwood, and Mr. Boston had supper at Dean and Mrs. Skywalker's house, and at The Devil's Nest, Mr. Morningstar was in a state because of people eating at the piano.

And with that, dear listeners, I have run out of notes, so I shall see you next week! Enjoy your American holiday!

Steve wanted to go camping for the holiday weekend. And therefore Steve was going camping for the holiday weekend. Danny very much was not. Because he was sane and also took one look at the 'camp shower' that Steve had so proudly shown off and noped right on out.

That didn't mean he wasn't going to support this ridiculous plan, though. Mostly because Steve was taking the plethora of kids they'd either collected (Steve) or just had the old fashioned way (Danny).

"You sure you've got enough snacks?" Danny asked, shoving more into the cooler because he knew Charlie was perpetually one snack away from a meltdown.

"Have you been eating sandwiches at the piano?"

Lucifer ran his hands over the keys. No, those most certainly were pieces of bread, stuck between them. He gasped, offended. "Tiny," he said. "How dare you! We're in a club! It's full of tables and chairs and you eat at the piano?!"

He looked back up, eyes full of fire, and--

Tiny had disappeared, leaving just a little puff of smoke behind.

"Coward!" he yelled.

There was a large box at the front of the class and your teachers were inspecting the contents therein with varying levels of confusion. Because they for sure got the supplies for this from some less than reputable sources.

"Hi, good to see you all," Jane said once everyone was there. "Welcome to Arts and Crafts. And Dungeons. And Dragons. That's a lot to say in one go."

"Apparently the rolling weird dice hobby also involves making a lot of accessories." That was one way to describe it, Cara.

"So, for introductions, you're going to come and grab a random figure to paint and introduce to the class next week. We're giving you the time because there's a lot of details apparently?" Look, she wasn't an expert here. It wasn't astrophysics.

Also, half the mini-figs weren't even from D&D. So, good luck with that. Enjoy your weird ass Warhammer space marine or RuneQuest duck.

"Get to it." No, they weren't going to give you any tips on how to paint. They'd have to actually know some to do that.

It was a little embarrassing how long it had taken Rey to realize that two of the most important people in her life didn't really know each other. Once she did, she'd taken to fixing that right away- after pollen, and kids, and the trip to Massachusetts, and trying to resolve scheduling conflicts, and…

So Rey brought Adrian and Boston over for dinner, where they came inside and said their hellos and did the introductions and got the initial niceties out of the way. She didn't think it'd be weird at all, but very early on she asked, "Is any help needed with dinner?"

Again: not worried or anything. But it was a good conversation starter! Or a reason to get her out of the room to talk! Or whatever. As long as they got along not that she was worried.

A porg had gotten in to the station, somehow. Every single one of the Troopers had a different story as to how. Honestly Watts wasn't overly concerned with that. It was Fandom, things happened. Including the wildlife wandering indoors.

The problem was that every attempt to catch the porg and set it back outside had so far been met with failure, and that did not look to be changing any time soon.

Good morning, everyone, it's Steve Rogers with the news of yesterday.

Workshops are back on, so Liliana has a new class called Song of Dominia, which is not, as I thought, a workshop about singing. She gave a brief history of how Dominaria became her Multiverse’s nexus and how Nicol Bolas manipulated a dragon-slaying kingdom into destroying itself so he could seize power. Stark had Movies and Snacks introduce themselves and watch the first Space Battles, and I've been married to Tony long enough to ask if first means the prequels or the originals, which are now in the middle.

*chittering*

You were too busy eating snacks. And Constantine started his workshop on the stages of grief. I have a feeling I'm going to get some whiplash reporting on the Thursdays.

In town, Steph was wondering why the game shop now had entirely too many index cards.

And that's everything for yesterday! Have a great weekend.

This? John had NOT signed-up to teach this. Hells, he hadn't signed-up to teach at all this semester.

But then he'd found the course paperwork mysteriously on his desk, and, well, fuck his life.

This had either Zee or Dee's fingerprints all over it, and he wasn't sure which one would be worse.

(Didi. Didi would be worse, for reasons he didn't like to look too closely at.)

"Right. Wake up, you lot, I know it's summer and it's early but if I have to be here, so do you," he said, sitting on his desk. "M' Constantine, the librarian, for those of you that don't know me. Con-stan-teen, thank you very much, not Con-stant-tyne."

LUCIFER.

"So. Welcome to 'The Memory of Living,' which is pretentious as fuck, but I didn't choose it. We'll be looking at the Kübler-Ross model of grief, often referred to as the 'five stages.'"

"Swiss-American psychiatrist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross originally developed stages to describe the process patients with terminal illness go through as they come to terms with their own deaths; it was later applied to grieving friends and family as well, tho that was never her original intent. She noted, 'Most of my patients have exhibited two or three stages simultaneously, and these do not always occur in the same order.'"

"You've probably heard these parroted by people around you at some point, or on the telly." John walked over to the board, picking up the chalk and starting to write.

Denial
Anger
Bargaining
Depression
Acceptance

"We'll cover one a week, leaving room for whatever nonsense the island wants to throw at us this summer," he said dryly, putting down the chalk and turning around to face the room.

"So, let's get this wake started, yeah? Name, and why you're here. Go."

There was a large box of... packs of index cards on the floor behind the counter, and Steph was staring at it in utter perplexity.

"I'm pretty sure this isn't supposed to be our shipment," she said to Little Bot, who was rolling around the box and poking experimentally at it. "Unless there's a really weird new trend in CCGs that -- you know what, I don't want to know."

Little Bot gave her a sympathetic beep and plucked the invoice out of the box to give to her.

"Okay, looks like I have some calls to make," Steph said, sighing, and reached for the phone.

Stark hadn’t entirely signed up to teach this but the moose did what the moose willed and this was fine. He’d watched movies and he’d eaten plenty of snacks before so this should go well enough. He still looked a bit nervous inside the Danger Shop that had been programmed to look like a tiny home theatre but that was just how his face often looked.

“Welcome to Movies and Snacks,” he said once it appeared that everyone was there. “Where we’ll watch movies and eat snacks because that’s a good summer activity if you don’t want to be outside in the heat. It’s also good in the winter if you don’t want to be out in the cold.” That was more his style but this was good too.

“Traditional movie snacks are often popcorn and candy but they don’t have to be. And you can add all sorts of things to popcorn. Butter, of course, but also candy or chocolate or caramel or cheese or spices or sometimes yeast…So for today I have some freshly popped popcorn and a number of moddable toppings and add-ins for you to make something to your taste.” Stark would be adding some Old Bay to his popcorn because of the Maryland of it all.

“And for our first movie I thought something of a classic. At least I believe it is? The first Space Battles movie.” Everyone loved those, right?

“First though…introductions? Always a good way to start things. I’m Stark. Not from Earth. Never saw a movie myself before I got to this island. Never ate popcorn either or chocolate and chocolate is perhaps my favorite thing. I’m not sure I have a favorite movie though. I don’t usually watch them on my own…”

Yes, I stayed inside yesterday, I'm not foolish, unlike a sadly high number of you, it seems.

Up at the School, or rather, down by Serenity Cove, Anakin was inflicting more Summer Shenanigans on people. It was the disgusting, greasy pole again. Which is why I stay indoors on Wednesdays this time of year. Onlookers mingled, while the voluntolds contemplated their fates, which included both ridiculous flirting, as well as Henry and Flint explaining things to Sairis. As much as Anakin can be explained. Then they all attempted to run across the greasy pole, and while Vi finished first, I don't really think anyone was a winner there.

Except maybe Arden, who hid out in the Library, and avoided all this.

The Dorms were quiet, again, as was Town apart from Anakin's nonsense.

Everyone here had taken classes with Liliana before and so no one ought to be surprised when the lecture began barely after the bell had stopped ringing.

"Dominaria," she began, once more half-perched on her desk, since this was another 'less-lecture-more-rant' class, "is a portmanteau of the words 'Dominia' and 'aria,' meaning 'Song of Dominia.' In incredibly ancient times, both the plane and the greater Multiverse were called Dominia, but presumably, that got confusing rather quickly. People tried tacking on 'Prime' when speaking of the plane itself, but it turns out that referring to Dominia and Dominia Prime wasn't much clearer than before. Eventually, at some point in antiquity, the devs realized that was confusing and also dumb the name was changed to Dominaria. At least two groups claim credit for coining the name, an elder dragon by the name of Nicol Bolas--" no, you weren't imagining Liliana's frown when she mentioned that name, "--and the Numena, a group of wizards that rose up and slew the Primevals. I'll get to them later, don't worry."

Because if she didn't explain the Numena, she couldn't explain Korona, and if she didn't explain Korona, she couldn't explain the time rifts, and if she didn't explain the time rifts, she couldn't tell them about the other other time Dominaria was nearly destroyed!

...That happened a lot, yes. )

A story for next week.

Good morning, it’s Wednesday and it’s summer so please avoid Anakin if at all possible. Stay indoors. It’s better that way.

*chittering*

Yes, I might stay here all day. Just in case. So let me have the news from yesterday so I’ve something to talk about for a few minutes at least.

Classes have begun again at the school. To start the day there was Book Club which was held at the bakery with snacks and possibly no books at all. Yennefer was back to teach Coping with the Non-Modern World though she seemed perhaps a bit surprised about it? And then there was Sam Eagle with Sam Eagle Presents: Weird or Not Weird? and he tried to make his students explain that they were not weird. All right.

Nothing from the dorms but a couple from the town. Sairis was in Liliana’s shop being suspicious of the chair. Fair. Do we know that the chair did not eat Dean?

And finally, at Caritas, everything was lemons. Not literally. I think. Just a lot of lemon drinks. I think.

Stay away from the park!

Yeah, Arden had seen the weird scaffolding over Selkie Cove on her way to the library this morning and had absolutely gone out of her way to avoid that whole area. It was Wednesday and she'd been on the island longer than twenty minutes. No thank you.

Though, once she'd gotten in, she had to admit she was at least a little curious about what the heck required scaffolding that high, so she started texting people who might have gone to investigate to see if any of them would let her know what was going on.

Sounded like the gremlins had a pretty brisk betting pool about it, too.

Anakin was getting wily.

Realizing that people might've learned to avoid the park on Wednesdays, he'd set up his ambush silent cry for help team building exercise by Serenity Cove instead.

It was very normal to have built a scaffold to hold a 40 foot long, very gross-looking wooden pole dangling twenty feet up over Serenity Cove over the last several weeks, right?

Even if it was twenty feet up?

"I am Anakin Skywalker," Anakin called from the top of scaffolding through his unnecessary megaphone in a manner not dissimilar to a person yelling on a street corner. "Many thanks to our local bars and restaurants for once again providing the lard, grease, fish guts, Crisco and bacon fat to really lube this thing up. The rules are simple," Anakin said. "Whoever gets across the pole and reaches the red flag at the end wins all you can eat at Mooby Burger for a week!" Whether Mooby Burger was a good prize or not was entirely up to the winners. "You may walk, run, or slide your way across, but you may not use supernatural powers."

"And thank you in advance for volunteering!"

Which was news to those volunteers.

"And you also get a free t-shirt!" A surprisingly inoffensive shirt, since Anakin didn't see the point in wasting the good ones on an event where the shirts would be immediately destroyed.

He began pointed out people as they walked past: "McGarrett, Hannibal, new kid, Rogers, Kitty, Sairis, Remy, Lydia--" he paused. "--there are water wings as well."

Sorry about the dress, Lydia. "--Rey, Eramus, Henry, Flint, Mariner, Jonathan, annnd Vi."

"Get on up here."

Sairis had been working on some more advanced charms lately, and had left them in a corner of the back room. He was excited to see how they were coming along.

Which was...missing. What? He was sure Liliana wouldn't have moved them without leaving him a note, probably about why where he'd left them was a bad idea and instructions on choosing a better place. And as far as he knew, nobody else came in here. (And he'd left them out of the reach of the chair. Unless it sprouted long arms?)

So apparently he'd be spending today looking for wherever they went to.

And side-eyeing the chair, just in case.
